TSOT #231 - Bermuda Butterfly

Hello, hello! It's time again for another Try Stampin' - Or Not - On Tuesday challenge and this week the sketch is from yours truly. We also have an added challenge of 'Watercolour'.

So here's my card for this week:

I didn't know if I would actually finish this card as my week was busy, but I'm super pleased with how it turned out.

I started with lightly water colouring my tag in bermuda bay ink. My embossed background was actually a mistake. I wanted the same tone all over, but didn't mix enough embossing paste with my ink, so thus I created an ombre look - and love the look even more! My butterflies were cut from bermuda bay card and vellum and layered together and the sentiment is from Cottage Greetings. Oops! I just realised I left of the strip down the bottom ;)

I love this card for being able to show the versatility and possibilities for stretching your stash and only using 2 colours (and these just happen to be my teams colours :)

Ok so want to play along? Well here is the sketch:

And we look forward to seeing what you come up with :)

Thanks for looking

TSOT #130

Good morning! It's time again for another sketch over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday. I used this one to make an engagement card for some family members.

I was quite happy with the end result. I did alter the sketch a little, but I'm sure thats ok :)
It's a short and sweet one from me today - I have a bazillion things to do.

Any questions just ask and thanks for looking

Black & Red Engagement

Good morning! I'm trying to publish a few of my cards, which I have had in my 'to blog' folder for way too long, so here is another card for you.

This card went to my Hubby's cousin, who got engaged. They had a black and red theme engagement party, so thought I'd use that colour palette as my inspiration. It was a fairly simple card and came together quite quickly and a design that I have used for may different occasions. Any questions, just ask.

Thanks for looking :)

Card Kit Contest

Hi! A few months ago, my Stampin' Up demonstrator Nicole sent me one of her 'Card kits'. It's a competition where she sends out left over cards from her workshops to some of her customers. The rules were that I had to use everything in the kit - I could add to the kit, but not take anything away. I was sent two kits and this is what I came up with:

This kit had early expresso base, daffodil delight, whisper white and early expresso ribbon. I added rose red, old olive and an antique brad. I made the flowers with the wing from the two step bird punch and the leaves are the body of the bird just cut down to size.

This next card gave me grief. I had baja breeze base, riding hood red, old olive, so saffron and very vanilla. I added soft suede for the owls and some riding hood red dsp and some 'chino' pearls from Kaiser Craft. It took me quite a while to come up with this card. I tried to sketch many different things, but nothing worked till I threw my hands in the air and walked away. I came back a little later and came up with this in about an hour - love how that works sometimes :)

Not sure if you can see, but I've inked my square lattice embossing folder in so saffron and then ran it through my big shot -  I love this subtle effect. The so saffron frame was created with the decorative label punch. I was really happy with how it turned out and so did Nicole, as I won second prize!

Thanks for looking.

Congratulations

I thought I'd quickly pop in and post a card I had made a while ago.

I love the simplicity of this card. The flower is made using Stampin' Up's scallop punch, I then scrunched the scallops and repeated. The more layers the fuller the flower.
Thanks for looking.

Wedding Congrats

Hi again! This card is another case (I promise I do have my own ideas!) but I really liked this card done by Melissa. I loved the modern feel of the card and that it was quite a simple card. The square shape is cut out with stampin' ups top note die cut, here's a video from Mary Fish - enjoy.
