JAI 176 - Just Add Blokes

Hi all, just popping past to share a card that I made for this weeks Just Add Ink challenge, which is 'Just add blokes'. This was perfect timing, as it's Hubby's birthday and I needed a card :)

I went quite graphic and as he's a Port Power fan, I decided to use these colours. I actually printed the 'birthday' from MDS (how awesome is that program?!) And I dont know if you can see it, due to the picture being a bit too stark, grr, but I did emboss the white with the chevron EB folder. I was quite happy with the end result, and I think Hubby was too.

Bright Birthday Four!

MERRY
* CHRISTMAS! *

Well the day that we've all planned and scurried around for is finally here! I hope that you are able to enjoy family and good times today and dont eat too much (as I know I seem to do!)

We still have a challenge on today at Try Stampin' On Tuesday, and its a goodie! I need a card for my DD who has a birthday early January and this sketch was perfect.

I wanted to use bright, fun colours, so out came my brights collection from Stampin' Up. I used my beautiful wings embosslit and my heart punch to create my panel and then I inlaid embossed it with my square lattice embossing folder. I actually made a second embossed panel, but it was way too heavy on the card, so I've used some vellum, embossed with my perfect polka dot folder and trimmed with a very thin piece of pumpkin pie. I was happy with the result, as I can still see the bottom panel. The scallop circle is from spellbinders and I've cut out my number 4 in white and popped it up on dimensionals.  My twine is actually from a pack I got with a magazine, but it is a perfect match with the tempting turquoise - score!
Here's another view - do you think a 4 year old would love to get this?? I know I would:)

Go past Try Stampin On Tuesday and see the other creations the design team have come up with as usual they are amazing!

Simple Tag's

Hi! I just wanted to quickly share these simple tags I made up for the gift bags for Christmas.

I used some retired dsp and a few different elements and created 10 of these in about a half hour - too easy. Any questions just ask :)

Just Us Girls #156 - Numbers

G'day! Today I have a card which I'm putting in for this weeks challenge at Just Us Girls. It's wild card week and the challenge is to use numbers in your creation.

Here's what I came up with:

I cut out a heap of numbers in white and stuck them down in order 1 to 8. I now wish I'd thought ahead, because the second row of 1 to 4 is hidden - oh well :) I cut out a 6 in red polka dot and layered it onto my circles and added some dsp flags. I love how this turned out - simple and effective and I reckon it could be for a boy or girl.

Here's the challenge:

Just Us Girls #154 - Rainbows

Hi! I'm back with a card I made for this weeks challenge at Just Us Girls. The challenge is to use rainbow colours as your challenge. My DD is about to finish kindy this week and I wanted to make the teachers a card each. This is one that I came up with:

I used strips of polka dot dsp from stampin Ups brights collection to create my rainbow. I then cut out my 'thanks' sentiment with the timeless type alphabet, in white card and covered it with glossy accents for a bit of 'pop'. I've matted it all onto black card and the base is crumb cake. In real life this card it so vibrant and fun and I think perfect for a kindy teacher!

Here's the challenge:

If you have a chance to, go past Just Us Girls, as the design teams creations are amazing.

Festive Friday #23 - Inspiration Photo

Hello! It's time again for another Festive Friday. Nicole has given us a photo to inspire us:

Here's my take on the photo:

I loved the garland around the mirror and I tried to stay true to the layout of the photo. I also picked up some colour from the red on the packaging. The garland was made by using my owl punch to create the different sized circles of glimmer paper, I then stuck them onto some crochet twine. The 'merry' is done by using my 'timeless type alphabet' in basic grey, the presents are made from 3.5 cm squares of glimmer paper, then layered with 1 1/4 square punch in bashful blue dsp and popped up on dimensionals. I used cherry cobbler for the pop of colour. To create the 'bows' I punched out a heart with my owl punch, then punched it again with the heart to heart punch. I stuck them all together and finished them off with a rhinestone.

Birthday!

Back again, this time with a card I made for my DD's friend who was turning 5.

This is another card which I loved for the simplicity. I made all my 'm's' by layering the card with adhesive sheet, then ran it through my big shot and cut it with the timeless type alphabet. This made sticking them so much easier and no messy glue any where! I used card from my stash and you can use your scraps for something like this! I then ran the whole white panel (with the 'm's' stuck down) through my big shot again with the square lattice embossing folder to get an embedded embossed look - TOO EASY!

Festive Friday #9

Hi! Well it's time for another Festive Friday and we are focusing on Easter. Now not sure about you, but I dont generally send out easter cards, lazy I know. So when it came to making an easter card, I dont have any easter stamp sets, so this card is me thinking outside of the box.

When I think of Easter, I think of Jesus dying on the cross, rising again and giving us new life. Also even though we have Easter in Autumn here in Oz, I think of spring and all the beauty that comes with it. So thats were my card is coming from, the butterflies are representing the new life and the subtle colours are nice and fresh.

For the ring of butterflies, I punched out a 1 3/4" circle and glued all my butterflies from beautiful wings embosslit to it, so I could pop it up on dimensionals. I cut out two little leaves and cut them into sections, to get a more 'clustered' look. The 'Easter' was cut out with timeless alphabet and I added dots with my white gel pen, to give it more dimension and interest. Not sure if you can see, but around some of the butterflies and leaves I used my certainly celery marker (fine end) to add some dots.

This card took me ages to make! Even though every thing is cut out with my big shot, the layout and colours and detail took me a while. But having said that, I'm really happy with the result :)

So now that I've talked your ear off, why not go to Nicole's blog and check out what the design team have come up with and be inspired to create an Easter card!

Just Add Ink #100

Hi! Over at Just Add Ink, they're celebrating their 100th birthday challenge and so this weeks theme is - 'Just add crowns'. I actually dont own any stamp sets which have crowns or anything to that nature, so I had to think outside the square and came up with this cute box:

I know that these boxes have been around for a while now and I finally had a chance to make one. The box uses the pillow box die, but for my 'crown' shape I cut off all the extra bits on top to get a unified look and cut the bottom straight. The colours I've used are rose red, certainly celery, so saffron and some scrap brown. I embossed the rose red base with the final press embossing folder. The hearts and 'princess' were all cut out using the timeless type alphabet. My Hubby surprised me for Christmas by buying this secretly and it's now my new best friend! You can get the tutorial for the box here
I am loving the end result and I cant think of any little girl who wouldn't love to get this!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!
