Baby Card

Just thought I'd pop in and share a card that I made last month. My Mum asked me to make a card for a friend who had just a baby boy. She wanted greens and yellow and left the rest up to me. Here's what I came up with:

I went for a more contemporary feel and used old olive as the base, certainly celery and so saffron. I was really happy with the end result, and think the little boat is so cute! I think I'll have to make a few more of these for my own stash.

I hope every one had a great Christmas. I'm going on a little break from blogging, but will be back in the new year with some exciting news! Until then have a great New years!
Thanks for stopping by :)

Quick Money Holder

Hi all, just a quick pop past, as things are busy, busy! I needed a quick money holder for my brother, so this is what I came up with:

This was super simple to make: I had my DSP folded into three's, then cut one panel in half to make the pocket.  I tied a ribbon around to keep it all together and added a sentiment. EASY!!  Hope you like it :)

2012 Calendars

I have been wanting to make these little calendars for a while, as I've seen them all over the internet. But I couldn't find any little calendars, until now.  I made 20 of these to give away to family members, and I tried to keep them pretty simple, knowing how many I had to make. This is them all packaged up ready to go:

I used paper from my stash and the "Beautiful wings" embosslit. My top note die certainly go a work out with these :) To finish these off I stuck a magnet on the back so that they could be hung on the fridge. I was so happy with how they turned out,  that I kept one for my fridge!

Here's a group shot:

Christmas Owl

I'm back with another cute Christmas idea. I actually saw this idea from Kirsty Brown's site. I thought they were adorable and these sweeties will go to my Sister, so she is able to give to them to some special people.

Presents for my Family

Hi all! I hope your ready for Christmas!! I have been busy, so I'm going to have a bit to share with you before Christmas :) Last night I was up till late baking biscuits for my family and this morning I packaged them up. Here's what they look like:

I was pretty happy with how they turned out. The mug's are two different sizes and are from Big W. The sentiment is from "stamped for Christmas" by Annabelle stamps. A strip of Jolly Holiday DSP from Stampin up, a flower made from the Boho blossom punch and some bling to finish it off. I hope the recipients are happy with them as well! I'll be back soon to share some other projects that I've been working on. Thanks for looking!

Annabelle Stamps - Handmade Gifts

Over at Annabelle Stamps they have a great challenge to give some handmade gifts for Christmas. I had only just finished making these beauties, so I thought I'd share.

I'm not entirely sure what they are officially called, but I call them 'folded ornaments'. For all the details I just educated my self on you tube. I did make two in different colours, but I'll share that one later as it's for my Mum and I know that she sometimes looks at my blog :) I will say that they are time consuming in preparing the material, but once every thing is cut, ironed and ready to go they come together quite quickly. Hopefully I'll be able to make a few more for Christmas.
Hope you have a great day and thanks for looking!

JAI 96 - Jut Add Tania!

I'm pretty stoked that I've found time to once again join in on this weeks Just Add Ink challenge. And what a great one it is... Just add Tania Gould. I have been following Tania's blog for a while and I think all her creations are stunning. I knew I had seen a few of her cards show casing the beautiful "Elements of style" stamp set so headed straight there.

You can find the card which inspired me here. I did change a few things, but kept the overall feel very much the same. I used old olive as my base and very vanilla for my stamped panel. I used crumb cake stamped off a few times for my background stamping and coloured my flowers in rose red and so saffron  with my blender pen. The 'happy birthday' is from "vintage labels" and stamped in soft suede. I'm pretty sure my card is smaller than Tania's as I didn't have as much room for a sentiment. I distressed my edges with my scissors and added some cream twine. I was also inspired to make the inside pretty, as I never seem to normally and I think it completes the look.
So after all of that I hope you can pop past Just Add Ink and join in and thanks to Tania for all the beautiful inspiration!
Thanks for looking

JAI 95 - Bah Humbug

Oh boy, it's been a while since I have played along with Just Add Ink. I was determined to sit down and join in on their challenge, which was to create a Christmas project with no Christmas paper or stamp set except for a sentiment. I took the 'no Christmas paper' quite literally, as I also scrapped traditional Christmas colors all together.

I've used melon mambo, daffodil delight and tempting turquoise as my main colours and the trees are old olive and crumb cake. For the background I used "Bliss" stamp set and inked it in melon mambo and stamped using my stamp-a-ma-jig to get every thing looking straight. My trees are from "Trendy trees" and the sentiment is from "Best yet". I had a lot of fun creating this card, as the colours were so summery and kind of fitting for an Aussie Christmas (well I think so :)

Thanks for looking and pop past Just Add Ink to see all the other amazing creations!

Hello!

Well it feels like forever since I've sat down and shared something! Not sure about you, but life is getting busy! I'm nearly done with Christmas shopping, but all those little extra items I wanted to make for friends and family are still to be done. I have however finished and written my Christmas cards to send out on 1st December. I also feel like my mojo has gone walkabout, so hence my lack in creations and posts. Hopefully with things that I have to get done before Christmas that my mojo will find its way home :)

Any ways, I had promised my girls that I would make them a Christmas hair tie, so we went to the local craft shop and they chose their ribbon.

They were pretty simple, just a length of ribbon that I ran a running stitch along one side and pulled the thread to create the ruffles. I then used a self covering button with material from my stash for the center and finished the bottoms with a piece of felt to make it sit nicely and attached the hair tie to the felt. The girls love them and they were easy and cheap to make.

I hope all your holiday plans are going along nicely. I'll try and pop past again soon :)
Thanks for looking

(on a side note, I know I promised that I would show you a reindeer version of the treat toppers, but I honestly haven't done any. Maybe in the next few weeks I'll be able to get around to them - hopefully)

ABSC 043

Hi! I have finally found some time to create! I loved the sketch at Annabelle Stamps, so decided to play along.

Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

I think this is such a sweet image. I coloured the image using my blender pen and ink pads. I add a few more layers than what are in the sketch :)
Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Santa Toppers

Hi! Hope your all having a great day so far. I recently came across these cuties from Dawn Olchefske. I thought I'd make a few now, as it's not too long till christmas (2 months!!)

Firstly, please excuse the snake lolly, I didn't have anything else! Any way back to santa, I did change a few things like the beard; I dont have the ornament punch so out came my scallop punch and I embossed it with 'budding vine' from Craft Concepts. Also I changed the embossing on santa's hat to 'perfect polka dots' as I didn't have the same one and the pom is from the flower on the boho punch, but I love Dawns version with the sparkly circle. I think he turned out pretty good. I'm going to work on a reindeer in the next week (whenever time permits ;) Hopefully be back soon to share.
Thanks for looking.

Hi all! This week I decided to enter in The Paper Players challenge which is to make a clean and simple Christmas card using green and red. Here's what I came up with:

Just Add Ink 86 - Sketch Challenge

Over at Just Add Ink they have a sketch for this weeks challenge. I must admit I struggled with this one, I looked at it from all different angles and nothing 'poped'. So, I decided to keep it as is and came up with this:

I'm still not too sure about it. I'm not one to use much bling and as you can see, there's a lot! I actually had a rhinestone flourish in my stash, and just cut it up and tucked it behind my circle until I was happy. The circle originally had no hearts around it, but it was looking a little bland, so I added the hearts from the owl builder and glued 2 mm rhinestones on every second heart. The cakes are coloured using my blender pen and I used my staz on for the sentiment, as I think it gives it a richer black. My main colours are marina mist, so saffron, certainly celery and rose red.

Heres the sketch:

Thanks for looking and have a great rest of the weekend!

Card Kit Contest

Hi! A few months ago, my Stampin' Up demonstrator Nicole sent me one of her 'Card kits'. It's a competition where she sends out left over cards from her workshops to some of her customers. The rules were that I had to use everything in the kit - I could add to the kit, but not take anything away. I was sent two kits and this is what I came up with:

This kit had early expresso base, daffodil delight, whisper white and early expresso ribbon. I added rose red, old olive and an antique brad. I made the flowers with the wing from the two step bird punch and the leaves are the body of the bird just cut down to size.

This next card gave me grief. I had baja breeze base, riding hood red, old olive, so saffron and very vanilla. I added soft suede for the owls and some riding hood red dsp and some 'chino' pearls from Kaiser Craft. It took me quite a while to come up with this card. I tried to sketch many different things, but nothing worked till I threw my hands in the air and walked away. I came back a little later and came up with this in about an hour - love how that works sometimes :)

Not sure if you can see, but I've inked my square lattice embossing folder in so saffron and then ran it through my big shot -  I love this subtle effect. The so saffron frame was created with the decorative label punch. I was really happy with how it turned out and so did Nicole, as I won second prize!

Thanks for looking.

Just Add Ink 85 - Just add baby

Hi again! This week at Just Add Ink the challenge is to "Just add baby". I loved this colour combo of pink and brown that I've seen on a few blogs (I'm not really a 'brown' person, so I don't normally use it) and I still am in love with easel cards. Heres what I came up with:

I've used soft suede, pink pirouette and certainly celery and I've add a lot of pearls! I sponged all the pink pirouette dsp in soft suede and added just a little bit of colour to the main image.
Hmmm, now I just need someone to have a baby girl - any takers?
Thanks for looking.

Wow I won again!

Hi all! I once again was quite surprised when I jumped on line today and found that I had been this weeks 'Ray of sunshine' over at Sunny Challenges.

Heres the card I won it with:

Go and pop past to join in on the fun!

Christmas Cards #2

Hi again! Here's a few more of my Christmas cards from my pile.

This card was a complete case from Teneale Williams. I think all of Teneale's cards are amazing and why mess with perfection. I did however change the base colour to old olive and the greeting.

This card started as a entry for a challenge, but I missed out a required element, and when I tried to add it, it didn't look right. So I stuck with what I had.
I was flicking through the 2010-2011 Stampin Up idea book and used the card on page 28, as my inspiration. I kept it a little bit cleaner, and made it square, but still like the overall effect.

Sunny Challenges - SC 007/11

Hi! I found this cute challenge site a while ago now, and finally had a chance to enter a card. The challenge this week at Sunny Challenges & Creations was to use the sketch and the only stamping on the card is the sentiment. This did stump me at first, but then I've been meaning to try the pin wheels, so I grabbed some bright DSP and this is what I came up with.

I was happy with how this card turned out - I wanted something bright and fun. I used perfect plum, rose red and daffodil delight for my pin wheels and old olive to tie everything together. The sentiment is from pendant park. I used a small old olive brad to secure my pin wheels and I also punched out a small circle from the owl builder in old olive DSP to give it a nice center. The old olive ribbon is a retired ribbon that I had tucked away in my stash.

Christmas Cards #1

I thought I'd share a few of my Christmas cards that I've been working on these past months (yes I started making Christmas cards in June)

This was actually a card that I made last Christmas, but I love it and thought I'd share it. It uses Mojo Monday Sketch # 165
I used Stampin Up's "Lovely as a tree"and I stamped off the image in old olive so it wasn't too bold, then added some 2 mm rhinestones from my stash. The flower rhinestone was also from my stash.

I really like this one. I found out the hard way last year that if you have lots of dimension on your cards, that it cost double to post. So I plan to make a few of these on different colours for those friends and family I wont be able to hand deliver to. I also wanted to have some non-traditional cards (as I tend to only have green and red for Christmas!)
Thanks for looking!

Just Add Ink 84 - Colour Challenge

This week at Just Add Ink they have a colour challenge: "White plus one".

When I first sat down I thought I would use rose red, but no matter how hard I tried and after many attempts, I couldn't get anything to look 'right'. So I completely changed my course and picked up tempting turquoise. I must admit I was a lot happier with the look of this card.

I love how fresh this card feels. I originally had the flowers with no colouring but I felt it needed a bit more depth. So I used my blender pen to add a bit of colour and not make them seem so 'white'. I also added some 2 mm rhinestones from my stash to the middles of the flowers. As you can see I did add a fair bit of dimension.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 133

Hi! I'm pretty impressed with myself - I have actually been able to create! It's been nice to play along with a few challenges this week, I finally feel like my mojo is slowly coming back.

I always love the sketches that Karen has for us at Sweet Sunday each week and I thought I'd give this weeks a go.

Heres my take on it:

The paper is from a stack called "The Green Stack". I picked it up at Big W and it's great for guy cards. The dinosaur stamp's were a free set I got from a magazine. I've stamped the images onto watercolour paper and water coloured them just using my ink pads and water brush - nothing remotely fancy :) The birthday greeting is from Stampin Ups "Hedgehog Happiness". Once again I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out.

Thanks for looking.

Fathers Day

Good morning! Yesterday was Father's day here in Oz and this is the card I made for my kids to give to their Daddy.

I have wanted to create the textured background for ages and finally got round to giving it a shot. The wings on the owl were created using Stampin Ups scallop oval and just cutting them down to how I wanted them. I must admit this was a card that turn out exactly how I wanted it and I'm pretty happy with the result.
